October 19 – Rooted in the Divine

Can any of you, for all your worrying, add a single hour to your life? (Matthew 6:27)

In the arid regions of Australia, the Weeping Myall has adapted to survive in the harshest of conditions. This resilient tree develops long taproots that reach deep into the earth, tapping into hidden groundwater during prolonged dry periods. The Weeping Myall’s strategy for survival serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of staying grounded and focused on what truly sustains us in life.

Just as the Weeping Myall anchors itself in the life-giving waters beneath the surface, we too must root ourselves in the Divine Source that nourishes our souls. In a world filled with uncertainty and change, it is easy to become distracted by worries and fears. However, as the Gospel of Matthew reminds us, no amount of worrying can add a single hour to our lives. Instead, we are called to trust in the providence of God, knowing that our lives are held in love’s eternal embrace. By cultivating a deep connection with the Sacred through prayer, contemplation, and acts of compassion, we tap into the wellspring of grace that sustains us through every season of life.

Reflection:
1. In what ways am I allowing worry and fear to distract me from what truly matters?
2. How can I deepen my connection to the Divine Source that sustains me, even in the midst of life’s challenges?

Prayer:
Divine Presence, help me to root myself in your love and trust in your providence. May I find strength and resilience in the face of change, knowing that you are with me always.
